Joseph Manca
Joseph Manca is the Nina J. Cullinan Professor of Art History at Rice University, where he has taught for over thirty-five years, specializing in European and American art and architecture from 1300 to 1950.[1][2][3] He earned his PhD from Columbia University in 1982 and has authored books such as 'Shaker Vision: Seeing Beauty in Early America' (2019) and 'Virtue in the Garden'.[2][6] His current research examines the behavior, self-presentation, and social status of artists in Europe from the Renaissance to the eighteenth century.[1]
