John Tyerman Williams ; with illustrations Ernest H Shepard
John Tyerman Williams was a British author, retired schoolteacher of English and history, and holder of a PhD in philosophy. He is best known for his humorous book 'Pooh and the Philosophers' (1995), which playfully argues that Western philosophy from ancient Greece to existentialism is prefigured in A.A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh stories, often illustrated by Ernest H. Shepard. Williams lectured on theatre, English literature, and history, and passed away in 2016.
