John T. Cacioppo

John Terrence Cacioppo (1951–2018) was a pioneering US-American social and neuropsychologist who co-founded the field of social neuroscience and served as the Tiffany and Margaret Blake Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago. He authored over 500 articles and books, including the influential work Loneliness: Human Nature and the Need for Social Connections, and was renowned for his research on social isolation, emotional contagion, and the Elaboration Likelihood Model of persuasion.
