John Spargo

John Spargo (1876–1966) was a British-born political writer, socialist activist, and later a Vermont historian and museum founder. He became known for influential muckraking works on child labor and poverty, such as "The Bitter Cry of the Children," before moving away from socialism and becoming a prominent anti-communist and regional historian in the United States.
