John Skelton

John Skelton (c. 1460–1529) was an English Tudor poet, satirist, playwright, and priest, known for his sharp political and religious verse and for a distinctive rapid meter later called Skeltonics. He served as tutor to the future King Henry VIII and is now regarded as one of the most important poets of the early Tudor period.
