John S. Marr
John S. Marr (born April 1940) is an American physician, epidemiologist, and author whose career focused on infectious disease outbreaks, including roles as director of epidemiology at the New York City Department of Health and Virginia State Health Department until his retirement in 2006.[1][2][3] He graduated from Yale University, New York Medical College (MD 1967), and Harvard School of Public Health, and has authored medical thrillers like *The Eleventh Plague* (1998) and *The Black Death* (1977), children's health books, and over 55 journal articles.[1][2][4] Marr is noted for scientific explanations of historical epidemics, such as the Ten Plagues of Egypt.[2]
