John Kenneally VC

Sergeant John Patrick Kenneally (born Leslie Jackson), VC (15 March 1921 – 27 September 2000), was an English soldier who received the Victoria Cross for extraordinary gallantry during World War II.[1][2] On 28 April 1943 at Djebel Bou Azoukaz, Tunisia, as a 22-year-old lance-corporal in the Irish Guards, he charged alone into the main body of the enemy, firing his Bren gun from the hip, surprising and scattering them, and repeated the feat two days later despite being wounded.[1][2] After the war, he was presented the VC by General Alexander and praised by Winston Churchill.[2]
