John H Haynes

John Henry Haynes (1849–1910) was an American archaeologist, photographer, and diplomat, best known for leading the first U.S. archaeological excavations in the Mediterranean and Mesopotamia at Nippur. He is regarded as the father of American archaeological photography, with his extensive corpus serving as a vital record of numerous sites across Ottoman Anatolia.
