John E. Reynolds III

Dr. John Elliot Reynolds III (1952–2017) was a distinguished marine mammal scientist, conservationist, and former chair of the US Marine Mammal Commission who served under four U.S. presidents. He earned his Ph.D. in biological oceanography from the University of Miami and authored key works on manatees and dugongs, including 'Manatees and Dugongs' (1991). Reynolds passed away on December 23, 2017, after a long battle with cancer.
