John Cowper Powys

John Cowper Powys (1872–1963) was an English novelist, philosopher, lecturer, critic, and poet, best known for his panoramic Wessex novels including Wolf Solent (1929), A Glastonbury Romance (1932), and Owen Glendower (1940).[1][3] Educated at Sherborne School and Cambridge, he lectured for decades, primarily in the United States, before retiring to write full-time, producing also essays like The Meaning of Culture and his Autobiography (1934).[1][4]
