John Batchelor
John Batchelor is an Emeritus Professor of English Literature at Newcastle University, formerly the Joseph Cowen Professor there and a Fellow of New College, Oxford. Educated at The King's School, Canterbury, Cambridge (where he earned his Ph.D.), and the University of New Brunswick, his work focuses on English literature since 1800, with books including The Edwardian Novelists (1982), monographs on H.G. Wells (1985), and biographies such as The Life of Joseph Conrad (2000) and Lady Trevelyan and the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood (2012).[1][2][5][8]
