Johanna Spyri
Johanna Spyri (1827–1901) was a Swiss author best known for her classic children's novel 'Heidi,' which has become a worldwide treasure of children's literature. Born Johanna Louise Heusser in Hirzel, Switzerland, she began writing in her 40s and published around 40 books, though 'Heidi' remains her most enduring and celebrated work. Her stories often drew from her own childhood memories of the Swiss Alps and Plateau.
