Joel Shurkin

Joel N. Shurkin is an award-winning freelance science writer and historian born on June 12, 1938, in Orange, New Jersey. He is the author of nine books on science, medicine, and the history of science, including three biographies, and was part of a team that won a Pulitzer Prize for covering the Three Mile Island nuclear-reactor disaster. Shurkin has taught journalism at Stanford, UC Santa Cruz, and the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
