Joel Osteen is an American pastor, televangelist, author, and senior pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, succeeding his father John Osteen in 1999.[1][3] Born on March 5, 1963, in Houston, he graduated from Oral Roberts University and initially produced his father's television sermons before becoming a prominent figure in prosperity theology with bestselling books like Your Best Life Now.[1][4] His weekly services and positive messages attract millions of followers worldwide.[3]
