Jim Aylesworth
Jim Aylesworth was an American children's author born in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1943, who attended Miami University in Ohio and initially worked as a stockbroker before pursuing teaching.[1][2][6] He taught first grade in Oak Park, Illinois, from 1971 to 1996, drawing on his 25-year career to write over 30 playful, rhyming children's books such as The Gingerbread Man and My Grandfather’s Coat.[2][4][5] Aylesworth lived in Chicago with his wife and was known for his engaging storytelling.[5][8]
