Jerry Pinkney
Jerry Pinkney (1939–2021) was a renowned American illustrator and writer of children's literature, known for illustrating over 100 books with watercolor illustrations often featuring Black characters, history, and culture.[2][3] He received prestigious awards including the Caldecott Medal for *The Lion & the Mouse* (2010), five Coretta Scott King Awards, and five Caldecott Honors.[2][3] Born in Philadelphia, he overcame dyslexia to become one of the most acclaimed children's book illustrators over a 69-year career.[1][4]
