Jean Piaget
Jean Piaget (1896-1980) was a Swiss psychologist renowned for his pioneering theory of cognitive development in children, outlining four stages: sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational. Initially interested in biology and mollusks, he shifted to psychology after working with Alfred Binet in Paris, where he observed children's reasoning errors, leading to his genetic epistemology framework. He directed the Jean-Jacques Rousseau Institute and authored over 50 books on child development and knowledge acquisition.
