Jean de La Fontaine
Jean de La Fontaine was a celebrated French fabulist and poet of the 17th century, best known for his masterful collection of 'Fables' that depict human nature through anthropomorphized animals. Born in Château-Thierry in 1621, he became one of the most widely read French poets of his time and was elected to the Académie Française in 1683.
