Jean Baechler

Jean Baechler was a French sociologist and historian who dedicated his career to teaching and research, holding positions at the Sorbonne and École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS). His scholarly work combined general theory of humanity with comparative historical sociology, exploring how human potentialities were actualized across different civilizations. He authored 34 books and 276 articles and served as President of the Académie des Sciences Morales et Politiques in 2011.
