Jane Gardam
Jane Gardam (born Jean Mary Pearson) was an acclaimed English author of children's and adult fiction, short stories, and literary criticism, known for her witty portrayals of British life, often set in World War II and post-war periods. She published her first novel *A Long Way from Verona* in 1971 after working as a journalist, won the Whitbread/Costa Award twice, and was appointed OBE in 2009 for her contributions to literature. Her acclaimed *Old Filth* trilogy brought her late-career acclaim.
