Jan-Philipp Sendker

Jan-Philipp Sendker is a German journalist and author born in Hamburg in 1960, who served as Stern magazine's American correspondent from 1990 to 1995 and Asian correspondent from 1995 to 1999. He published the nonfiction book Cracks in the Wall about China in 2000 and achieved international success with his first novel, The Art of Hearing Heartbeats, in 2002. He currently lives in Potsdam with his family and works full-time as an author since 1999.
