James Kavanagh
James Kavanaugh was a former Catholic priest, poet, and author born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, who gained fame with his 1967 bestseller 'A Modern Priest Looks at His Outdated Church,' criticizing church policies on celibacy, birth control, and divorce. He resigned from the priesthood in 1967, became a licensed clinical psychologist, and published over two dozen books, including bestselling poetry like 'There Are Men Too Gentle to Live Among Wolves.' Kavanaugh passed away in 2009 at age 81 after a battle with health issues.
