James Herriot

James Herriot was the pen name of James Alfred Wight, a British veterinary surgeon born in Sunderland, England, in 1916, who practiced in rural Yorkshire for nearly 50 years.[2][3] He began writing at age 50, drawing from his experiences to create the beloved series starting with *If Only They Could Talk* (1970), later published as *All Creatures Great and Small*, which sold over 60 million copies worldwide.[1][3] Wight also authored children's books and Yorkshire sketches, captivating readers with his warm storytelling until his death in 1995.[1][2]
