James Harrison Cathey

James Harrison Cathey (1866-1929) was a North Carolina state legislator and author of historical works. In 1899, he published 'The Genesis of Lincoln: Truth is Stranger Than Fiction,' which argued that Abraham Lincoln was the son of Nancy Hanks and Abraham Enloe of North Carolina. His research on Lincoln's parentage drew from William H. Herndon's manuscripts and other historical sources.
