James Duncan (Editor)

James Elmslie Duncan was an English Chartist poet, editor, and writer known for his advocacy of social and moral reform, vegetarianism, and temperance. He edited publications such as the Morning Star and The Sunbeam, and authored works including Defence of a Vegetable Diet and the novel Edward Noble. Duncan was also a phrenologist and shorthand tutor before dying of epilepsy at age 32 in a lunatic asylum.
