James Desmond Smyth

James Desmond Smyth (1917-1999) was an Irish-born parasitologist who graduated from Trinity College Dublin (BA, BSc 1940; PhD 1942) and held academic positions at universities including Leicester, Leeds, Dublin, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine before becoming the foundation Professor of Zoology at the Australian National University (1959-1971).[1][2][3]
