James Baldwin

James Baldwin (1924–1987) was an influential American writer, essayist, novelist, and social critic known for exploring race, sexuality, religion, and identity in 20th-century America. Born in Harlem, he spent much of his adult life in Paris and became a powerful voice for civil rights through works such as *Go Tell It on the Mountain*, *Giovanni’s Room*, and *The Fire Next Time*.
