Jalal al-Din Rumi

Jalal al-Din Rumi, commonly known as Rumi, was a 13th-century Persian Sufi mystic, poet, and theologian born in Balkh (modern-day Afghanistan) who became one of the most influential figures in Islamic literature and mysticism. His works, including the Masnavi and the Dīwān-i Shams, explore themes of divine love and spiritual knowledge, earning him global acclaim as a leading poet of Sufism. Rumi died in Konya (modern-day Turkey) in 1273, where he founded the Mevlevi Order.
