Jacek Fisiak

Jacek Fisiak (1936–2019) was a prominent Polish linguist specializing in historical linguistics, the history of English, contrastive linguistics, and English-Polish language contact. He earned his MA from the University of Warsaw in 1959, PhD from the University of Łódź in 1962, and habilitation from Adam Mickiewicz University (UAM) in Poznań in 1965, where he served as Professor of English from 1977 until his retirement in 2006, directing the Institute of English for 40 years.[2][6]
