J M S Careless
J.M.S. Careless (1919–2009) was a prominent Canadian historian who taught at the University of Toronto from 1945 and served as chairman of the history department from 1959 to 1967. He won two Governor-General's Awards for his seminal works on Canadian history, including 'Brown of the Globe,' a two-volume biography of Father of Confederation George Brown, and 'Canada: A Story of Challenge,' which became a standard one-volume history of Canada.
