Ivan Kaminow

Ivan Paul Kaminow was a pioneering researcher in optics and photonics, with a 42-year career at Bell Labs from 1954 to 1996, where he developed key technologies including electro-optic modulators, integrated optics, semiconductor lasers, and wavelength-division-multiplexed optical networks.[1][2] He published over 240 papers, received 47 patents, and co-edited influential books such as the Optical Fiber Telecommunications series.[1][2] After retiring, he served as a professor at UC Berkeley's EECS department and received numerous awards, including the IEEE Photonics Award.[1][2][5]
