Isabel Munoz

Isabel Muñoz, born in Barcelona in 1951, moved to Madrid in 1970 and began studying photography in 1979, quickly establishing herself as one of Spain's leading contemporary photographers known for her black-and-white platinum prints exploring the human body, dance, and movement. Her work, featuring series on subjects like flamenco, tango, capoeira, and ethnic dances from global travels starting in 1990, has earned her prestigious awards including two World Press Photo prizes (2000, 2004), Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts (2009), and National Photography Award (2016). She has held over 150 solo exhibitions worldwide and her photographs are held in major collections such as the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris and MoMA in New York.
