Iron & Steel Society

The Iron and Steel Society (ISS) was a professional organization dedicated to advancing the iron and steel industry, publishing works such as Iron & Steelmaker and proceedings from conferences like the Electric Furnace Conference and Ironmaking Conference. Formed prior to 1981, it operated local sections including in Pittsburgh and consolidated with the Association of Iron and Steel Engineers (AISE) on January 1, 2004, to form the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST). ISS contributed to technical development, production, processing, and application of iron and steel through its publications and networks.
