Irma S. Rombauer

Irma S. Rombauer (1877–1962) was an American cookbook author best known for *The Joy of Cooking*, first privately published in 1931 and later becoming one of the most widely read cookbooks in the world. Born Irma von Starkloff in St. Louis, Missouri, she became one of the most influential figures in 20th-century American home cooking.
