Ira Levin

Ira Marvin Levin (1929–2007) was an American novelist, playwright, and songwriter, best known for his suspenseful and genre-defining works including A Kiss Before Dying (1953), Rosemary's Baby (1967), The Stepford Wives (1972), and The Boys from Brazil (1976).[1][2][3] Born in the Bronx, New York, he attended the Horace Mann School and New York University, starting his career in television writing before achieving acclaim with his debut novel, which won an Edgar Award.[3][4]
