Ira H. Abbott

Ira H. Abbott was an American aerospace engineer who played a key role in early American aeronautical and space research, contributing to airfoil development, high-speed flight programs, and NASA’s advanced technology projects such as the X-15 and supersonic transport. A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he spent much of his career at the NACA Langley Laboratory and later at NACA/NASA headquarters, retiring in 1962.
