International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions
The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) is an independent, international non-governmental organization founded on 30 September 1927 in Edinburgh, Scotland, to represent library users, information professionals, and promote high standards in library services worldwide.[1][2][3] Headquartered at the National Library of the Netherlands in The Hague, it began with library associations from 14 European countries and the US, expanding to over 1500 members from 150 countries.[1][3] IFLA advances professional education, standards, and the preservation of documentary heritage.[2]
