Institute Of Petroleum

The Institute of Petroleum (IP) was a UK-based professional organization founded in 1913 as the Institute of Petroleum Technologists by Sir Thomas Boverton Redwood and Arthur Eastlake. It changed its name to the Institute of Petroleum in 1938, opening membership to all professions in the oil and gas industries, and provided services like standards setting and information dissemination. The institute merged with the Institute of Energy in July 2003 to form the Energy Institute and became defunct.
