Ian Macdonald

Ian Macdonald was an English music critic, journalist, and author, best known for his critical history of the Beatles, *Revolution in the Head*, and his study of Dmitri Shostakovich, *The New Shostakovich*. He died by suicide in 2003 after a period of clinical depression.
