Iain M. Banks

Iain Menzies Banks (1954-2013) was a Scottish author who published mainstream literary fiction under the name Iain Banks and science fiction under Iain M. Banks. Born in Dunfermline, Fife, he spent his early childhood in North Queensferry before moving to Gourock. He wrote 29 novels over 29 years, with his science fiction works prominently featuring the utopian Culture series, and his books have been adapted for theatre, radio, and television.
