Hugh Hood
Hugh John Blagdon Hood was a renowned Canadian novelist, short story writer, essayist, and university professor born in Toronto in 1928. He is best known for his ambitious 12-volume novel sequence 'The New Age' and wrote 32 books in total, often exploring themes of faith, philosophy, and Canadian middle-class life through his Roman Catholic perspective. Hood was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1988 and taught English literature at the Université de Montréal for over three decades.
