Howard F Shout
Howard Fast (1914–2003) was one of the most prolific American writers of the twentieth century, authoring over eighty works of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and screenplays. Best known for his historical novel Spartacus (1951), which he wrote while imprisoned for refusing to name Communist associates to Congress, Fast's characters often struggled for freedom, from Roman slaves to American revolutionaries. A former Communist Party member awarded the Stalin Prize in 1954, his works were translated into more than 75 languages.
