Horace Clarence Boyer
Dr. Horace Clarence Boyer (1935-2009) was one of the foremost scholars of African-American gospel music and a performer who educated communities on the performance and compositional practices of the tradition. He authored the acclaimed 1995 book 'How Sweet the Sound: The Golden Age of Gospel Music' and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from The Society for American Music in 2009.
