Hillary Angelo
Hillary Angelo is an urban-environmental sociologist and Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she directs the Center for Critical Urban and Environmental Studies. Her research examines the interplay between understandings of the environment and large-scale urban transformations, including urban greening, sustainability policy, infrastructure, and climate change, with publications in venues like Nature, Theory and Society, and her 2021 book How Green Became Good from the University of Chicago Press. She holds a PhD from New York University and a BA from Vassar College, and is currently writing a book on America's public lands as sites of climate adaptation and political conflict.
