Hermann Schlüter

Hermann Schlüter (1851–1919), born in Elmshorn, Germany, was a German archivist, author, and editor who joined the left wing of German Social Democracy as a teenager and helped publish SPD newspapers. He organized the archives of the German Social-Democratic Party and, after fleeing Bismarck’s Anti-Socialist Laws in 1889, became editor of the New Yorker Volkszeitung in the United States.
