Heiner Zieschang
Heiner Zieschang (1936–2004) was a German mathematician who specialized in combinatorial group theory, topology, and 3-manifold theory. He was a professor at Ruhr-University Bochum from 1968 to 2002 and made significant contributions to the study of surfaces and planar groups. He received honorary doctorates from the University of Toulouse (1995) and was named an honorary professor at Moscow State University (1996).
