Harold R. Willoughby

Harold R. Willoughby (full name Harold Rideout Willoughby) was an American biblical scholar and professor of New Testament and Early Christian Literature at the University of Chicago, where he was a member of the Federated Theological Faculty.[1][2] He specialized in early Christianity, pagan regeneration, and ancient mystery religions, authoring works such as 'Pagan Regeneration,' 'The Greater Mysteries at Eleusis,' and 'The Eleusinian Mysteries Explained.'[4][6] A festschrift titled 'Early Christian Origins' was published in his honor.[3]
