H. Paul Varley

H. Paul Varley (Herbert Paul Varley) was an American academic, historian, author, and Japanologist known for his scholarship on medieval Japanese history, especially the Kamakura and Muromachi periods. He taught at Columbia University and the University of Hawai‘i and wrote widely on Japanese culture and history.
