Guy Waterman

Guy Waterman (1932–2000) was an American writer, mountaineer, and conservationist renowned for his books on the outdoors, particularly the mountains of the Northeastern United States. He co-authored several works on hiking ethics with his wife Laura Waterman after leaving a career as a Capitol Hill speechwriter to live off-the-grid in Vermont. Waterman controversially ended his life by suicide on Mount Lafayette in New Hampshire in February 2000, citing a desire to escape the indignities of aging despite being in good health.
