Guillaume De Lorris

Guillaume de Lorris was a 13th-century French poet best known as the original author of the first part of the medieval allegorical poem Roman de la Rose (The Romance of the Rose). Little is known about his life; he likely came from Lorris near Orléans and was active around 1225–1230, after which the poem was continued by Jean de Meun.
